There will finally be a spanking party in the San Francisco Bay Area!

That is … I’m doing it! And, uh, it’s in 11 days. Eeeep!

I’ve written all about it over at the SF-CP website (yes, “San Francisco Corporal Punishment” – I wanted to be inclusive!) so I won’t repeat myself over here. But I will say that the wonderful people at ShadowLane and Florida Moonshine have been wonderful with their help and support, as well as a number of spanko friends who are stepping up and saving my arse (presumably so it can later be spanked, of course!)

And I’ve just finalized the plans today to have a school role-play scene at the event, with a schoolmaster and secretary teaching and disciplining the students. (Whom, I assume, are all going to be some level of naughty!)

I was just reading The Eiger Sanction by Trevanian, and a number of spanking quotes popped up. I had always sort of passively avoided thrillers and mystery novels, but I’m sharing bookcases with a man who delights in them, and I can’t help reading anything that lies still long enough. My rewards have been the amount of times spanking is alluded to in these popular fiction books. Which does make me wonder what the masses of “normal” people who read these books get up to in the privacy of their own bedrooms….

This book for instance, sold well over a million copies, and a Clint Eastwood movie. (Sadly, I don’t think the spanking made its way into the film — a pity, since we have so much footage of John Wayne spanking girls, it would be brilliant to have ol’ Clint bringing his leathered hand down on some soft round bottom….)

But let’s get to the spankings that the characters in this novel so desperately need.

“Oh no,” he croaked, what the hell are you doing, Cherry?”

“Good morning, Jonathan,” she said cheerily, “Did that tickle?”

Cherry, dressed in only her tennis shorts, slipped under the sheet with him, her lips touching his ear. “Nibble, nibble, nibble,” she said, and did.

“Go away,” he muffled into his pillow. If you don’t leave me alone, I’ll…” He could think of no appropriate punishment, so he groaned.

“What will you do?” she asked brightly. “Rape me? You know, I’ve been thinking about rape a lot lately. It’s not a good thing because it doesn’t give the couple a chance to communicate on an interhuman level. But it has one advantage over masturbation. It isn’t so lonely. You know what I mean? Well, if you’re bent on raping me, I guess I’ll have to take it like a woman.” And she spun over and threw her legs and arms out, like St. Andrews crucified.

“Oh, for Christ’s sake, Cherry! I ought to spank your ass.”

She was instantly up on one elbow, speaking with serious concern. “I never suspected you were a sadist, Jonathan. But I guess it’s the duty of the woman in love to satisfy the sexual peculiarities of her man.”

“You’re not a woman in love. You’re a woman in heat.”

So, clearly, Cherry (who happens to be a virgin, haha) needs a spanking. But she’s not the only one!

“You have not said twenty words all night Do we disinterest you so much?”

“Not at all. I simply haven’t had anything pertinent or amusing to say.”

“And that prevented you from speaking?” Karl laughed heartily, how un-American!”

Jonathan smiled at him, thinking how terribly in need of a spanking he was. A trait of the Germans — a nation in need of a spanking.

Excellent, some male-on-male action! And this is popular literature? Who knew I was missing so much perversion?!

The book is really quite well written (the author has been compared to ) and full of amusing little jokes, like characters named “Miss Randy Nickers” and “Miss Anna Bidet.” An amusing snippet of discussion: “Let’s call off the climb. We’ll tell ‘em you’re sick or something. Trouble with hemorrhoids, maybe.” “My Achillles anus? No way, Ben. Forget it.”

I’ve been working my way through the Amelia Peabody series by Elizabeth Peters and when I got to the second one in the series, The Curse of the Pharaohs I found some amusing spanking-related quotes. Now, this is a series set in Victorian England, so the author would actually have had to put some work into NOT mentioning CP, but still, all us spankos take what we can get when we read non-kinky books!

First, dialogue between a husband and wife:

After a moment of thoughtful silence he shook himself and said, in his usual careless tone, “So take care with Mr. Vandergelt, Amelia. He was not exaggerating when he called himself an admirer of the fair sex, and if I learn that you have yielded to his advances I will beat you.”
“I will take care that you don’t catch me, never fear.”

Then, reading a letter from their son (all typos sic):

Nurse is very cruel and will not give me any sweets. Aunt Evelyn would, but she is afraid of Nurse. So I have not been to a sweetshop since you left and I think you are very cruel and vishus to leave me. Uncle Walter spanked me yesterday only because I tore some pages out of his dikshunary. I needed to use them. He spanks very hard. I will not tear any more pages out of his dikshunary.

The couple, upon finishing the letter, decide that their son “needs discipline.”

There have been a few more hints and mentions of spanking – I am now on the fifth book, and am looking forward to more popping up in continuing books in the series, which is otherwise a fun mystery series about a pair of Victorian “Egyptologists” who run around digging up mummies and catching bad guys of all stripes. From what little I know of the topic, the Egyptian details seem quite accurate and reliable, and the views of Victorian England are detailed and loving.

I’ve just run across a reference to my blog today that I had no idea was out there! The wonderful and talented Thomas S. Roche (whom, honestly, I feel grateful just having gotten to meet and hang out with a few times!) has some very kind words to say about my jottings:

Tragically, in recent years I’ve had to more or less stop reading erotica because I get the same things from reading it that I get from writing it, and if I read it I don’t write it. But I do sometimes read Zille Defeu’s blog and go berserk. Zille likes the spanking. Nonfiction is more of a turn-on for me than fiction when it comes to spanking.

I DO like the spanking! (Also, I am very fond of compliments! Thank you, Thomas!)

I got a really lovely compliment yesterday. I was walking home from grocery shopping. I’d been to the gym, and was sweaty and un-made-up and had put no effort into being sexy – it wasn’t on my mind at the moment, as I was mostly contemplating how heavy the groceries were.

I walked to a street that I usually use on the way home, and saw it was filled with construction workers. I had a moment’s pause, as any woman would, but decided, fuck it – I want to walk this way, and I’m darn well not going to let a bunch of workers stop me!

As I came up to them they noticed me, their conversation died away, and they aimed smiles in my direction. I smiled back at all and sundry, and continued on my way, feeling please for having braved the situation. But my rewards were not yet concluded, because after I’d passed them, they all suddenly broke out into song – something about pretty ladies. Well! That sort of compliment doesn’t happen every day. Hell, that’s more something that only happens in the movies! So I turned around, gave a bow and flourish with my hand – grinning delightedly. They started clapping, and then shouted out further compliments about me, notably about the rear view I was presenting. I grinned all the way home. And I rather imagine there was an extra bit of sashay in my step!

I myself am an “ass woman,” (i.e. – I enjoy checking out other people’s fundaments) so when people appreciate that part of me, it’s lovelier than them complimenting any other part of me. (Well, I don’t mind being told I’m a genius, either, although that happens somewhat less often!) My health hasn’t been great recently, and it’s been really getting me down. But it’s moments like this that can really turn you back around – the next time I feel depressed (or have body images issues!), I need to remember this moment and cherish it.

Last week I posted a video of spanking in vintage DC comics. There were some hot ones of girls being spanked both by the bad guys and the good guys, but most of the pictures were of Superboy getting put over the knee. However, the spankers who try to discipline Superboy find it’s more trouble than it’s worth – they’ll break their hands long before he even says, “Ouch!”

My friend Bill points out in a comment, “Doesn’t it kind of defeat the purpose of a spanking if you can’t feel it?”

Well, this got me thinking so much it’s become its own post! (Bill’s comments often do that.)

When I saw this video, I thought of the kids who have filled through those comic book pages, and thrilled to the sight of a spanking, as I would have done. (Erm, still do!)

So, coming at this from a kid’s perspective, there are two things to consider.

It was a common idea among children to stuff something into their knickers before a spanking which would take some of the sting out of it. It could be something soft that creates padding (an excellent example of this from the film Melody), or I remember a great Heinlein quote from To Sail beyond the Sunset

“…and if I hear just once more that you have lost your temper,
then when your mother sends you to discuss the matter with me, you had

Superboy’s butt could be seen as the world’s most perfect spanking blocker!

Many kids who were titillated by the idea of spankings were also justifiably scared of them – they were better as fantasy-fodder than real life! So having the Superboy situation was a perfect compromise – the stimulating image of the OTK spanking, but then the safety of knowing that the kid in the image wasn’t feeling any pain.

So far from being counter to the whole notion of spanking, in a way this is just part of the spanking landscape, which is not too peculiar considering that many spankos (at least the ones receiving the spanking!) have a love/hate relationship with it!
