Something to make you a little jealous, I have a boxed first edition of Lord of the Rings, not in mint condition, it’s been read to much, cost me three guineas, that’s £3-15 in decimal.

Thank you for giving my writing so much of your time — a true compliment! And I always hope for new fans! (When I moved this blog over from Livejournal, I felt very alone and like no one was reading me for a long time! So reading comments like yours really make up for that!)

(And the Muslim thing was an idle speculation, more to get people to think than a snapshot of what I actually think. I think he happened to draw on the Bible because it had great stories to retool, and because he grew up Christian. But I also think the stories can be enjoyed by atheists, Muslims, Buddhists, Hindus, and Pagans alike!
My mom also has a boxed first edition of LOTR, and so I got to grow up reading that! It just made my connection with the books all the more intimate!
(And everything is always better when you get it for much less money than it’s really worth!)
