Okay, I had another post I was going to put up today, but this just entirely trumps it! Thanks to Niki Flynn, who brought this amazing defence of “extreme” porn by Pandora Blake to my attention!

Read the whole thing — its extraordinarily well-written, and so clear and sensible that I can only think that any rational-minded person who’d had doubts about whether “extreme” porn was really needing to be censored or not, simply must agree with Pandora by the end of the article.

A part of the article that really delighted me was her explanation of herself as a lover of discipline — I could have written the exact same thing, only probably not as well as she has done!

I’m an independent, self-employed, over-ambitious perfectionist. I work hard and play hard and set myself tough goals. I need the profound emotional release that comes from, just for an evening, having no responsibilities at all. I need the deep, kittenish satisfaction that comes from offering myself to my lover, doing what I’m told and being found pleasing. I need the emotional simplicity that arises from being given very simple goals. Don’t move. Trust me. Endure this. Pain grounds me in my body better than any meditation technique I’ve ever tried. It cleanses my psyche of all the self-inflicted anxiety and guilt that accumulates during my average working week. It leaves me feeling renewed.

This point really gets to the heart of the matter:

Let’s think about the argument here, for a second. The one championed so passionately by Liz Longhurst and the Daily Mail, that violent porn causes violent crime. The court case into Jane Longhurst’s tragic murder did not demonstrate a causal connection between the extreme porn Graham Coutts liked to look at and his act of homicide; nor has it ever been demonstrated that there is a de facto link between one act (looking at violent imagery) and another (committing violent crimes). The debate on violent videogames has raged for years without conclusion.

Everyone in the country is now affected by this law, despite the fact that the vast majority of us are not violent sexual offenders, and never will be, especially if we’re female. This law has nothing to do with violent crime, and everything to do with censorship.

There’s nothing more to say about that — case closed!

I may live in the US, but this rule in the UK could give our “ignorant prudes” ideas — and the ignorant prudes in the US are the spiritual descendants of the Puritans — ignorant prudes whom the UK kicked out for being annoyingly prudish and censorious of others!

I just hope rational thought and freedom can overcome this, and sooner rather than later!

Hey all my lovely readers!

I’m afraid this week I’m pretty much entirely going to be hijacked by my new job (it will get better, soon, but at the moment there’s too much to do, and they want some results to poke at, which I totally understand) so I will be on the computer, but not so much up here. I’m not even really on my twitter, although it is sometimes easier to send out 140 characters while I’m stuck in public transportation and have some time to kill!

In the meantime, I have a task for you lot. Kaya just posted a questionnaire on her blog, and since I like her lots, I took the time to respond. One is supposed to repost such things on their own blog, but this meme isn’t exactly kink-related so I didn’t want to take up too much room with it over here.

However, some of you like it when I expose intimate details about myself (although I think the ones of you who don’t post replies tend to prefer those details in picture form…) so I’ll put the questions and my own responses under the cut.

Over at My Bottom Smarts the Spanko Brunch question today is:

Do you and your partner ever employ physical restraints as a part of your spankings?
If so, what sort of restraints do you use and how do they change your spanking experience?
If not, would you consider any sort of restraints in the future?

My response:

My Master and I have used physical restraints/bondage in our playtime. He’s not so big into the rope-bondage thang, because he has other things he’d rather be doing than spending half an hour getting me into intricate bondage – namely: spanking me or strapping me or caning me or slippering me…you get the idea!

However, I quite enjoy bondage – anything from elaborate shibari to a pair of handcuffs. I love being held down firmly to something and knowing that no matter how much I squirm, I ain’t going nowhere! I know I’m not alone in saying that it makes me feel safe, despite the obvious incongruity of that!

So, whenever my Master feels like putting the leather cuffs on my wrists and ankles, and clipping me to the “spanking chair of doom,” he has a willing victim. Not that I’m not always willing, but perhaps just that wee bit even more eager!

A big future DIY kinky project for us is putting these fabulous nautical attachments onto the base of the bed. These are a metal D-ring that fold down into their attachment, so that they are out of the way when not in use, and no one has to bump their shins into them! And they just look really kinky, too, which is always important!

I really want to explore being bound down securely to the bed, unable to move, and have my Master really let his inner-sadist out to play. (Wait – what am I talking about, “inner”?!) I know it would hurt like all-get-out, and it’s not something one would desire all the time, but I’m pretty sure he’d enjoy it, and since I’m already fantasizing about it, it would just be one of those really intense things that you fantasize about beforehand, just grit your teeth and get through when it happens, and then have astounding orgasms after!

Sadly, my Master does seem to generally prefer to see me using all my self control to maintain position whilst he canes me or straps me. Phooey, I say to that! Where’s the fun for me in having to hold myself in place despite the pain?! Oh, wait, right, he’s a sadist….

(Although, when it does come down to it, the best bondage of all is his hands and his body. Much more personal, and, errrr, hands-on…!)

Ludwig over at Ludwig’s Rohrstock-Palast, his excellent spanko blog, if you haven’t been there yet, has posted an excellent diatribe on why screwing your favorite porn producers out of money is not the brightest idea anyone’s ever had:

So in case you’re doing that, stop it. Seriously. You are hurting the producers who have put time, money and a lot of heartfelt effort into the films, you are hurting the models who have worked hard and suffered for our sadistic joy, and most importantly, you are hurting yourself – because the producers will eventually go out of business, and the content we all love and lust after will disappear. Think about that, matey.

Nobody who makes spanking videos is getting rich with them, and very few people in this industry are in it primarily for the money. If you simply want to rake in big bucks, vanilla porn is a much better business – because the market is much bigger. Videos of spanking, BDSM and other kinky activities, on the other hand, are what is commonly referred to as “niche content”. Most of the producers and models are themselves genuine, kinky enthusiasts who do what they do as a labour of love. They aren’t millionaires with villas, yachts and private planes, but “normal” people with normal jobs, who invest a great amount of their free time, not to mention blood and sweat, to make these films.

However, while they are not in it for commercial reasons, they have to make the work commercially viable. The equipment, the locations, the model fees and travelling costs, the production and distribution, all of that costs money. At the very least, they have to earn back what they put in. Moreover, when you buy a video, it also serves an idealistic purpose. It is a gesture of appreciation, it’s basically like saying: “Thank you, you did a good job. I like your work – so much, in fact, that I’m willing to pay a couple of bucks for it.” Even when the producer is not in it purely for the money, that is a big boost for morale. When you pirate the videos, on the other hand, people will start questioning if they really want to continue putting in all this time and effort just so that a bunch of wankers can download the films without paying.

That’s just my favorite bit, the rest is very good, too!

Everyone is suffering in this economic downturn, so we all have to help each other out. So buy yourself a spanking DVD or a membership at any porn site you like … it will support the people who make the stuff you want to see, and it will make you happy!

(This post was supposed to go up last night. But we had a power outtage, and by the time the power came back, we were ready to start celebrating. So here, slightly belatedly but still relevant, it is….)

I’m back home! Yay! The holidays were good, and New Years Eve tonight promises to be very good — we have three bottles of our favorite champagne, some (rather expensive) caviar, smoked salmon (with sour cream and choice of cucumbers or watercress), olives, cucumber salad, and some excellent chocolate for later nibbling. And I’m hoping my Master will ring in the new year upon my bottom!
